2008 YMCA Legislative Priorities
The YMCAs of Missouri have come together to develop a number of priorities designed to assist each local YMCA to continue their mission to build strong kids, strong families, and strong communities. In 2008 the YMCAs are particularly focused on the issue of quality, safe, and affordable child care for all who need it. Additionally, YMCAs in the state are concerned with the growing number of sedentary children and adults. We know that inactivity leads to people, especially young people becoming overweight and obese. Missouri Ys are working hard to provide educational and program activities aimed at helping Missourians become healthier in spirit, mind and body and lead more active lives.
Priorities include:
- Ensuring quality and affordable child care
- Addressing the nation's health crisis of childhood and adult obesity
- Supporting Missouri's YOP and NAP tax credit programs
